Omniplex Grand Opening, Future Plans

The Omniplex opened it's doors during a grand opening on Saturday, Jan. 24.

MsT, a veteran of Activeworlds for five years, built the Omniplex during the winter 2008 and has recently opened the new build to the public in Yellow.

MsT stated she has also posted a preview video of the library on YouTube.

Diggigurl, the caretaker of the world Yellow, was the first to see the new structure and advertised the location for all world visitors to locate. She called it a "miraculous build" during her tour of The Omniplex. She also stated she would do more advertising of future happenings in Yellow to capture unique talent.

Omniplex to open doors

The name describes exactly what this library is. The Omniplex, a multimedia library consisting of traditional literature and innovative technology, is scheduled to open in late January.

The library, housed at Yellow 656S, 1697E, sits far from the main road and is multi-tonal in appearance. The tan building is innovative in its design, conglomerating crystal domes with traditional, contemporary architecture.

The complex consists of three floors. The atrium, library, media lab, conference and music rooms are housed on the first floor. The science and technology exhibit on the second floor has interactive movies, projects and displays and an elevator to the third floor. The top floor contains a cinema and arcade.

Builder releases global warming exhibit

Scenic views and snowy mountaintops aren't the only features illuminating the Yellow Village landscape. The new Department of Energy Conservation build showcases clean energy windmills, solar panels as well as information about these new energy-efficient features.

Built in December 2008, the exhibit, located at Yellow-680S, 1699E, takes on a Zen-like façade upon approaching. Inside, one can find a futuristic, science fiction environment. The interior showcases interactive screens that allow Web access to various global warming education sites and an atrium housing energy models and charts to inform visitors.

Journal makes holiday debut
